Apple Crumble

Apple Crumble

Ahh, Apple Crisps & Crumbles.

Autumn is here and I love it.

First, I had 10 apples I wanted to incorporate into this crumble and ended up mixing and matching from a few different recipes. I was happy with the result which my husband and I tried immediately à la mode with non-dairy vanilla ice cream but tasted later on after the dish had cooled and it was even better.

For the filling I used the following:

10 peeled and diced apples

2 tbsp lemon juice

2 tbsp flour

1/2 cup sugar

For the crumble I used the following:

2 cups whole wheat organic flour

1 cup brown sugar

1 cup oats

Mix those ingredients with a wooden spoon and then add in>

200 cubes vegan butter (I use Earth Balance vegan buttery sticks)

Mix with fingertips

I then laid the apple filling into the pan (I actually used 3 small glass pie dishes and one medium sized pie dish- this recipe produces a lot!) and spread the crumble atop all the pans and then sprinkled 1 cup of ground walnuts over all.

Bake until golden brown and enjoy!
