On a visit to Providence in early June 2016, I devoted a couple of days to exploring some of the city’s vegan eats. Like No Udder was a highlight of the food adventure, beginning with stopping by their ice cream truck at the PVD Fest and meeting the wonderful Karen for the first time to, a couple days later, visiting their brick and mortar location on leafy, relaxed Ives Street . I thought it was auspicious that when I walked in a Steely Dan song was playing and in addition to having a lot of fun photographing the ice cream and shop owner Karen doing her thing, I also thoroughly enjoyed a social, relaxing and invigorating time there with a steady buzz of satisfied and cheerful clientele on a beautiful Monday afternoon. This was my last stop on my Providence vegan food tour and it was the loveliest culinary endnote that I could ask for. Like No Udder’s ice creams are offered in two different bases, coconut and cashew, and are simply delicious.
